In recent months, Members on both sides of the aisle have championed the search for work-life balance in Congress. Speaker Paul Ryan (WI-1) and Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth (IL-8) are firm believers in being effective leaders and active parents at the same time. Now, both are using their positions in Congress to make family-life, including their own, a high priority.
Members are not the only Capitol Hill workers who need to consider work-life balance. In fact, recently the Congressional Management Foundation partnered with the Society for Human Resource Management to publish the “Workflex Toolkit for Congress” to assist staffers in implementing flexible working arrangements that would make their careers and personal lives more compatible.
